Certified midwife BSc · since 2014
I am Rekha Müller
Born and raised in Zurich, with roots in Kerala. Today I accompany families in the city of Zurich and its surroundings – in English, German and Malayalam.
As an experienced certified midwife I have been working in the Zurich area since 2014. Born and raised in the city of Zurich, I live today with my husband and our dog in Zurich Oerlikon. My roots are in India (Kerala), which gives me an intercultural perspective and sensitivity.
With my many years of experience and expertise I provide individually tailored support during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.
Your mother's instinct is the best guide
Between apps, guidebooks and well-meant advice, the most important thing often gets lost: you know your child best. Especially with a first child I often see how much outside uncertainty comes along. What matters to me is that at the end of the eight weeks you do not depend on me, but trust yourself.
That is why I explain what I do and why – and put things in context instead of setting rules. Where your feeling and the textbook disagree, we look at it together. Most of the time, instinct is right.
My background
My educational roots go back to my school days in Oerlikon, and my studies took me to Winterthur at the ZHAW. Since graduating I have continued my education in various areas: ayurvedic pregnancy massage, kinesiology taping, sacroiliac joint deblocking and acupuncture. I have also completed the required continuing education in adult and neonatal resuscitation during my time at the hospital.
In my career I have attended over 300 births and expanded my knowledge in areas such as gynaecology, pregnancy massage, taping and acupuncture. I carried out pregnancy check-ups, offered counselling sessions for pregnant women and their partners and performed acupuncture treatments to prepare for birth. I accompanied women during childbirth and cared for them during their hospital stay. From 2014 I worked at the private clinic Bethanien and in a gynaecological practice, before starting my own practice at the end of 2021.
Since then I have been caring for women and their families throughout the postpartum period in their home environment. My calm and patient manner is always appreciated by families in this sometimes hectic and new life situation. I always take time to discuss individual questions and concerns.

Open to your culture
Much of it has a good reason
I work with families from very different cultures and keep learning from them. Postpartum traditions, nutrition, rituals, the role of the grandmother: much of it has its place in the care I provide. I also follow approaches such as baby-led weaning or elimination communication with interest – without prescribing them to anyone.
Language is flexible: English, German and Malayalam. Especially in the first days after birth it helps a lot to be able to speak in your own language.
